King, NC misuses riot law to ban guns and ammunition

On Friday, February 5, the city of King, North Carolina responded to heavy snowfall in the area by using a 40-year-old statute to ban the sale and possession, outside the home, of all firearms and ammunition. The proclamation was reportedly made by Mayor Jack Warren and posted in area restaurants and businesses.

Check out Paul Valone’s article about the Mayor of King, NC, declaring a “State of Emergency” that suspended the citizen’s rights in that town.

What is REALLY interesting is when you click on the link for the ordinance in King, Sec. 10-36 , it takes you to a portal from which you can see Municipal Codes all across the country.  And if you just happen to look at the towns and cities in North Carolina  that are listed, you will see that most, if not all, of them have the same kind of ordinances on the books!

I think I hear the Bugler’s call!

I heard State Sen. Don East on the radio yesterday morning. He was going to look into it and was going to talk to the atty general's office, his initial thoughts were that the law is a violation of the second amendment. He welcomed comments from citizens and can be reached here:
