ENCTeaParty Update: Common Core

Friends,

I’m attaching an article from “Truth in American Education” about a bill (H733) that’s been filed in NC to Study Common Core.  There’s been a lot of concern voiced from many across our state and nation related to Common Core.  You may not have children in the school system, but do you have Grandchildren, nieces or nephews or relatives with school age children? Or do you know any young people? Look at them closely because the education they are getting today will help them govern us tomorrow.  They are our future.  What do you want them learning in the classroom?  Read the article and the embedded John Locke Foundation April 10, 2013 Spotlight about Comon Core.  Next, contact your NC House Rep (John Bell 919-344-6324 or e-mail John.Bell@ncleg.net and or George Graham 252-527-6865 e-mail George.Graham@ncleg.net and ask them to please support H733.

This is a very timely discussion
since fracking will become a reality in NC.

GRNC Alert 4-14-13: Stop Toomey-Manchin Sellout NOW!

Stop Toomey-Manchin Sellout NOW!

– Make calls to sellouts who voted for ‘universal gun registration’
– Show up at Sen. Burr’s district office to voice your displeasure

DEMONSTRATION AT BURR’S OFFICE:
On Tuesday, April 16 at 10:00 AM, GRNC will be holding a demonstration at Senator Richard Burr’s district office in Winston-Salem to deliver the message that his sellout by voting for S. 659 will not be tolerated, and that if he votes for the Toomey-Manchin “compromise” described below, we will work to remove him from office. As always, please “dress for the press” — no offensive signs or clothing. Please note that firearms at demonstrations are prohibited by law. Suggested themes for signs: “Richard Burr: 2nd Amendment Sellout?” and “Burr: Vote ‘NO’ on Toomey-Manchin”. Please RSVP with number of people attending to: Volunteer@GRNC.org Yes, it’s a work day: BE THERE ANYWAY!

Burr’s office is at:  2000 West 1st St.,  Suite 508,  Winston-Salem, NC 27104. BRING LOTS OF FRIENDS! It you live too far away from this office, visit other district offices, which can be found at:  http://www.burr.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.Home

Update: Vote is on Tuesday

On Thursday, both Senators Richard Burr (R) and Kay Hagan (D) sold out gun owners by voting for the “motion to proceed” which will bring “universal gun registration” bill S. 649 to the Senate floor for debate this Tuesday. Hagan has been doing her best to camouflage her stance on the issue, while Burr had previously said he would support the Rand Paul filibuster, before switching sides and voting to proceed. Burr’s claims that he did so only when promised an open amendment process ring false: The most certain way to kill the bill would have been to deny it a floor vote.

2013 IS AN ELECTION YEAR FOR MUNICIPALITIES Deadline to file to run as a candidate for a municipality seat is July 2013. Don’t delay in recruiting good conservative candidates and finding treasurers. INSURANCE PETITION: Maybe you saw our photo on the front page of the Outer Banks Sentinel! Go tohttp://obsentinel.womacknewspapers.com/ Thank you, Jordan Hennessy, for the photo and the link. Thank you, Ed Beckley, for press releases and the petition! Thank you, OBX TEA Party members, for posing for the photo and helping get signatures!

We have well over 400 signed petitions (with 1 -15 signatures each). Until further notice we will continue to collect signatures on petitions to request a hearing on the increase of our NC homeowners insurance policies. The planned hearing was cancelled when our NC Insurance Commissioner, Wayne Goodwin, “settled” with the insurance companies. Some of us on the coast will see an increase of 17% or more. We want to know how rates are set and why they don’t seem to be based on historical payouts. Email me for a copy of the petition or go to the OBX TEA Party Patriots Facebook page to find the image. Email scanned image of signatures to me atmjlawson@microcharged.com or mail to 904 Clipper Court KDH NC 27948.

Call your insurance agent about your new flood insurance rates. The homeowners insurance hike may pale compared to the increase in coastal flood insurance. Google BW-12 flood insurance to see why.

Committee Meeting Apr 18th: Anti-Agenda 21 Symposium

The OBX TEA Party is planning to host a free networking symposium a Saturday in May 2013(probably May 11th) to provide hard data and access to knowlegable speakers for anyone interested in learning more and sharing real-life stories about the threat of United Nations Agenda for the 21st Century (aka Agenda 21). The success of the symposium will depend upon the efforts of those of us who understand the scope of this invasive cancer and are committed to taking action against it.

For comprehensive summary information, go to http://fttf.sharepoint.com/Pages/TheNewNormal.aspx

We collected ideas about signs and speakers at our regular meeting last week. Does anyone have housing available for our guest speaker and his wife? The OBX TEA Party has some funds but let’s minimize the hit to our budget.

Everyone available to help plan – a little or a lot – is encouraged to come to the second planning committee meeting Thursday, April 18th, at 6:00 pm at His Dream Center at 205 Baltic in Nags head.

If you can’t make this meeting but want to help, email me at mjlawson@microcharged.com. Thank you, patriots!

Stop MAIG from taking your rights – Act Now

Gun Rights Supporters:

As you may know, the so-called Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) are feverishly working to advance the cause of unconstitutional laws in the interest of diminishing your inalienable rights as Americans. They are currently peddling a petition across North Carolina. According to their lapdogs at the supposed North Carolinians Against Gun Violence (NCGV) they have enlisted over 39,000 of your fellow NC citizens to sign this petition begging for the shackles of tyranny.

What to do? What to do?

Ah Yes! Sign the Stop the Gun Ban Petition.

… And while you’re at it, have everyone you know also sign it…

You see, we need at least 40,000 signatures to beat this… So why not have EVERYONE you know sign our petition? Seriously, are you going to allow this handful of low level functionaries convince our elected representatives that their views reflect that of your fellow citizens? Will you allow them to speak for you? THIS CAN NOT GO UNCHALLENGEDYou MUST sign the Stop the Gun Ban Petition and have everyone within your reach do so as well. Contact your friends, family and of course your hunting and shooting buddies.

Let them know that it is the same tired old song. They – along with the Obama’s faithful old “Organizing for Action” radicals – claim to just be wanting some benign sounding background checks, touting the “gun show loophole,” but you had best believe they are pushing for universal gun registration.

Now is not the time to be shy or to tarry. Thomas Paine stated in his Summer Soldier writings:

…the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly…”

Indeed, we must not rest on our laurels and allow others to bargain away the freedoms our founders struggled to secure for us. We must exceed the numbers gathered by MAIG, that is necessary if we are to keep Senator Kay Hagan from going all in with the national gun grabbers. If we can put their numbers to shame, then we can use this to deliver the proper political fear to the good Senator’s advisers and prevent her from being a reliable vote for their cause.

Don’t wait. Your rights are depending on this. Remember, your rights are your responsibility. Ignore them and they will go away.

Armatissimi e liberissimi,

F. Paul Valone

President, Grass Roots North Carolina

P.S. As an all-volunteer organization, GRNC is member-funded. Right now, we are engaged in battles for your rights at both state and federal levels and, frankly, our resources are being tested.

Please consider contributing $50, $25, or even $10 to help GRNC bring the battle to those who would end gun ownership in America.

Voter ID hearing April 10th at 4pm Raleigh, Legislature Rm 643: Sign up now

Apparently, the “rent-a-mob” that crowded out all other speakers at the last public forum made an impact.  So, after their GOP caucus last  night, the Legislature has scheduled another public forum on the issue  of voter ID. Let me be clear: this is NOT the time to call Legislators.  It is time to show up and be heard.
IT IS CRITICAL THAT OUR SIDE SHOWS UP FOR THE HEARING THIS TIME. It will be in Raleigh next Wednesday, April 10 at 4 PM, Legislative  Office Building Room 643 but the sign-up for this meeting is this  morning. Key to getting heard at the forum is to sign up ASAP.
The page they used last time is the same one they are now using. The  problem last time was that Rev Barbour was able to bus in his ranters  who had signed up before Conservatives even knew about the link. This  time we have it!
HERE IT IS: www.ncleg.net/Applications/RTS/hce.aspx
I realize that most of us have to work for a living, so this will be a major sacrifice… BUT a good law is in the  balance. If you, your family or your friends want to see a REAL voter ID law in NC, then please forward this to your friends and ask them to  sign up NOW.
Thanks (in advance for this one)!

OBX TEA Party Update and Schedule

Meeting Location Update and Schedule

Our first regular OBX TEA Party meeting at His Dream Center (a non-profit organization) at 205 East Baltic in Nags Head last Thursday was a success. The location and the facility suits our needs well. Our regular meetings are twice monthly: 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 6 pm. Our next regular meeting is Thursday April 11th. Check our website for schedule updates about our meetings and other news.

You may bring a brown bag dinner and/or non-alcoholic beverage, if you wish. No food or drink is available on-site for purchase.Thank you!

Mattie Lawson, acting leader of the OBX TEA Party

P.S. INSURANCE PETITION: Until Thursday April 11th I will continue to collect signatures on a petition to request a hearing on the increase of our NC homeowners insurance policies. The planned hearing was cancelled when our NC Insurance Commissioner, Wayne Goodwin, “settled” with the insurance companies. Some of us on the coast will see an increase of 17% or more. We want to know how rates are set and why they don’t seem to be based on historical payouts. Email me for a copy of the petition or to arrange to sign.

Committee Meeting Apr 3rd: Anti-Agenda 21 Symposium

The OBX TEA Party is planning to host a free networking symposium a Saturday in May 2013 (probablyMay 11th) to provide hard data and access to knowlegable speakers for anyone interested in learning more about the threat of United Nations Agenda for the 21st Century (aka Agenda 21). The success of the symposium will depend upon the efforts of those of us who understand the scope of this invasive cancer and are committed to taking action against it.

This anti-American “soft law” has been slying eating away at our liberty since before the United Nations Rio Earth Summit in 1992. In February 2012 the Dare County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution recognizing the threat of Agenda 21. The North Carolina Republican Party approved a resolution against Agenda 21 in June 2012. This is a non-partisan issue: one of the primary sites issuing the alarm and loaded with real help and first-hand accounts iswww.DemocratsAgainsUNAgenda21.com. Two states have approved legislation against it. More states are working on legislation. North Carolina will not be far behind, we hope.

Anyone available to help plan this symposium – a little or a lot – is encouraged to come to the first planning committee meeting this Wednesday, April 3rd, at 6:00 pm at His Dream Center at 205 Baltic in Nags head. If you can’t make this meeting but want to help, email me at mjlawson@microcharged.com. Thank you, patriots!
