MSNBC Host blows up, walks off show while interviewing Mark Williams

If you have not seen Andrew Breitbart’s speech at the Tea Party Convention, I strongly encourage you to watch it. I don’t have to tell anyone that our country is on a precipice. Fear mongering, partisan politics and race baiting are only distractions to moving forward. Unfortunately these distractions make news and incite further division in the country. Ever wonder how the United States became the most powerful country in history? Look no further than the “United” in our name. Division, or the more commonly accepted term diversity, is what keeps us separated and weak. Read more »

Smaller government is a venerable American philosophy — though one not always consistent with the public’s passion for Medicare, farm subsidies, mortgage deductions, aircraft carriers and name-your-favorite-cut-of-pork. And calling forth the spirit of America’s tea-dumping colonists in Boston has never been easier than it is now. One irony for Obama is that the Tea Party movement is using his own organizing techniques against him: Meetup.com announcements, Twitter tweets, viral videos, e-mail trees and all the other innovations falling under the politically potent umbrella known as social networking. Indeed, in the online age, the whole purpose of physical gatherings has changed. Real crowds draw virtual crowds, and vice versa, as David DeGerolamo, a Tea Party organizer from North Carolina, explained during a seminar in Nashville. Recounting how he built a statewide operation from scattered local groups, DeGerolamo said he started with a rally. “I went around and contacted as many of these groups as I could find and invited them to Asheville for what we called the first N.C. Freedom Convention.” That was last May. When everyone was gathered, DeGerolamo coaxed the groups — notoriously prickly about their independence — to join under the banner of a single website, NCFreedom.us. Next, he convened a town-hall meeting “for one reason — to get YouTube videos,” DeGerolamo said. “YouTube is one of our best allies in terms of becoming a communications network.” Today, DeGerolamo’s group sends out more than 6,000 e-mails a week, stages informal protest parades called Rolling Tea Parties and posts dozens of videos of the movement in action.

North Carolina Schools: U.S. History Out, Environment In

Posted By Lee Ross On February 3, 2010

Change often leads to controversy and that is certainly the case in North Carolina where an effort to revamp the state’s education system has some people outraged that high school students will not learn enough American history.

The formula for teaching American history has been pretty simple. Start at the beginning and go forward.  But a new proposal under review in North Carolina [1] threatens to disrupt that standard teaching philosophy.

“If our students don’t know what happened in world history, and if they don’t know what happened in U.S. history from George Washington’s presidency all the way up through the Civil War, then they will not be able to grasp the big picture,” said Mike Belter, a Social Studies teacher in North Carolina.

The state’s on-going curriculum review hits all subjects but it’s the proposed changes for high school students learning social studies that have provoked fears. Under the new guidelines, students will graduate without learning enough about world history and key parts of American history including Abraham Lincoln, westward expansion or much else that happened before 1877 when Reconstruction ended, critics say.

“We are certainly not trying to go away from American history. What we are trying to do is figure out a way to teach it where students are connected to it. Where they see the big idea. Where they are able to make connections and draw relationships between parts of our history and the present day so the students who see it as relevant,” said Rebecca Garland of the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.

Right now, high school students learn world history in the ninth grade, civics and economics in the tenth and the entirety of U.S. history in the eleventh grade. Under the proposed change, all ninth graders wouldn’t study world history. Instead, they”ll have to take a course called Global Studies focusing on the modern issues like the environment.

Tenth graders will still get Civics and Economics, while the junior year U.S. history class would start in 1877.  State officials say events prior to that year will be taught before high school and also incorporated into the sophomore year Civics class.

Education officials acknowledge this is a big change but believe it will allow them to connect with a standard of teaching based on a new national initiative called called Common Core which emphasizes standards to help prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in college and careers and to be prepared to compete globally.

“The whole notion of the common core is fewer, clearer and more in depth standards. So that our students remember what’s important,” Garland said.

” I’m all for a global outlook but it should not be at the expense of American history and learning about American institutions and ideas. And unfortunately this curriculum does just that,” said Terry Stoops, an Education Expert and member of the John Locke Foundation.

North Carolina officials are quick to emphasize that the proposal is just that–a proposal. And they are encouraging feedback from teachers and the public about the plan.

U.S. agrees to timetable for UN Gun Ban

January 12th, 2010

The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.

The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms.

Working groups of anti-gun countries will begin scripting language for the conference this year, creating a blueprint for other countries when they meet at the full conference.

The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Former United Nation’s ambassador John Bolton has cautioned gun owners about the Arms Trade Treaty and says the UN “is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there’s no doubt that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”

Establishing the dates for the Arms Trade Treaty Conference is just the first step toward their plans for total gun confiscation.

The worldwide gun control mob will ensure the passage of an egregious, anti-gun treaty…

. . .and that’s where Secretary of State Hillary Clinton steps in.

Once the UN Gun Ban is passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations it must be ratified by each nation, including the United States.

As an arch enemy of gun owners, Clinton has pledged to push the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty. She will push for passage of this outrageous treaty designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens like YOU.

That’s why it’s vital you sign the special petition http://www.nagr.org/UNpetition1.aspx?pid=5 I’ve made up for your signature that DEMANDS your U.S. Senators vote AGAINST ratification of the UN’s “Small Arms Treaty.”

So far, the gun-grabbers have successfully kept the exact wording of their new scheme under wraps.

But looking at previous versions of the UN “Small Arms Treaty,” you and I can get a good idea of what’s likely in the works.

Don’t let any of the “experts” lull you to sleep by saying “Oh, we have it handled” or “Until you know exactly what’s in the treaty you can’t fight against it.”

Judging by Ambassador Bolton’s comments — who certainly knows what to expect from the American-freedom-hating international crowd that infests the U.N. — we are certain the treaty’s going to address the private ownership of firearms.

If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate (which is where we must ultimately make our stand), the UN “Small Arms Treaty” would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

*** Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;

*** CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);

*** BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;

*** Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION. So please click here to sign the petition to your U.S. Senators before it’s too late!

You see, this is NOT a fight we can afford to lose.

Here’s what you can do to help the National Association for Gun Rights fight Hillary Clinton and her United Nations cronies:

• Click here and sign our petition to DEMAND that your United States Senators vote AGAINST the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. http://www.nagr.org/UNpetition1.aspx?pid=5

• Forward this petition to your friends and relatives who share your concern for American sovereignty and protecting our right to keep and bear arms.

• Please consider making a generous contribution to the National Association for Gun Rights to help us fight Hillary Clinton and the United Nations “Small Arms Treaty.” http://www.nagr.org/UNpetition1.aspx?pid=5

NC Listen – immigration reform equals millions of jobs for citizens

Concerned Citizens and Immigration Reformers,

I find it interesting that few of our state and federal politicians really seem to understand how immigration enforcement and real reform could significantly impact the job situation in America.   Or maybe they just don’t care.  On the illegal immigration side, we have over six million plus illegal immigrants who occupy non-agricultural jobs in the USA which rightly belong to citizens.  President Obama wishes to spend billions to lower unemployment by a fraction while ignoring the illegal worker problem.  After all, we have the federal government’s E-Verify System available NOW for employers to use to check the legal resident worker status of new hires, but it is not mandatory.  The on-line and simple to operate E-Verify System could easily be used to check the legal resident status of existing workers.  But of course this would take Congressional and Presidential action and require common sense.   So you can see why Congress and the President would have a problem with this concept!

On the legal immigration side, why are we continuing to allow approximately one million legal immigrants into America each year when over 15 million citizens are unemployed?  Of course if we include citizens who are working part-time but want a full-time job and can’t find one and the under-counted unemployed [referred to as the U-6 measure by our U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics] the U.S.A.’s actual unemployment rate is over 16%.  We should basically halt all legal immigration except for legitimate refugees and Americans who marry overseas or have children while overseas — this number would be less than 120,000 per year.

With current economic projections, our national unemployment rate is not expected to be under 5% for the next four plus years.   The state of North Carolina has had to borrow over $2 billion in 2009 and the same is projected for 2010, above and beyond our existing state budget just to pay unemployment claims money — money borrowed from the USA Treasury [aka actually borrowed from China for our children to repay].

President Obama said in his State of the Union speech that he will “enforce our immigration laws and control our borders”.   I think he said the month this would happen but not which year.   The President said he “would do what is necessary to bring down the rate of unemployment”.   Oh really?

I have heard enough polished BS coming from President Obama and quite frankly from both major political parties.  They both do a lot of talking but little action.  There are certainly many legislators who support our efforts, however too many are more interested in getting re-elected than doing what’s best for Americans and our national interest.   More to follow on our plan to rattle their cages.
