Meeting Location Update and Schedule
Our first regular OBX TEA Party meeting at His Dream Center (a non-profit organization) at 205 East Baltic in Nags Head last Thursday was a success. The location and the facility suits our needs well. Our regular meetings are twice monthly: 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 6 pm. Our next regular meeting is Thursday April 11th. Check our website for schedule updates about our meetings and other news.
You may bring a brown bag dinner and/or non-alcoholic beverage, if you wish. No food or drink is available on-site for purchase.Thank you!
Mattie Lawson, acting leader of the OBX TEA Party
P.S. INSURANCE PETITION: Until Thursday April 11th I will continue to collect signatures on a petition to request a hearing on the increase of our NC homeowners insurance policies. The planned hearing was cancelled when our NC Insurance Commissioner, Wayne Goodwin, “settled” with the insurance companies. Some of us on the coast will see an increase of 17% or more. We want to know how rates are set and why they don’t seem to be based on historical payouts. Email me for a copy of the petition or to arrange to sign.
Committee Meeting Apr 3rd: Anti-Agenda 21 Symposium
The OBX TEA Party is planning to host a free networking symposium a Saturday in May 2013 (probablyMay 11th) to provide hard data and access to knowlegable speakers for anyone interested in learning more about the threat of United Nations Agenda for the 21st Century (aka Agenda 21). The success of the symposium will depend upon the efforts of those of us who understand the scope of this invasive cancer and are committed to taking action against it.
This anti-American “soft law” has been slying eating away at our liberty since before the United Nations Rio Earth Summit in 1992. In February 2012 the Dare County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution recognizing the threat of Agenda 21. The North Carolina Republican Party approved a resolution against Agenda 21 in June 2012. This is a non-partisan issue: one of the primary sites issuing the alarm and loaded with real help and first-hand accounts iswww.DemocratsAgainsUNAgenda21.com. Two states have approved legislation against it. More states are working on legislation. North Carolina will not be far behind, we hope.
Anyone available to help plan this symposium – a little or a lot – is encouraged to come to the first planning committee meeting this Wednesday, April 3rd, at 6:00 pm at His Dream Center at 205 Baltic in Nags head. If you can’t make this meeting but want to help, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you, patriots!

Citizens of Franklin County North Carolina,
As most of you are aware I attended a meeting at Fargo’s Restaurant in Zebulon some weeks back. The purpose of the meeting was simple, to provide clarification to the citizenry as to where your Sheriffs stand with regards to your 2nd Amendment Rights to Keep and Bear Arms. Particular interest was given to the possibility of any new Federal Laws and/or restrictions and how each Sheriff would react should such measures be taken. Since that community meeting I have received countless emails and letters from concerned citizens within Franklin County. In response to these concerns please allow me, as the Sheriff of Franklin County, to make the following declarations.
As the Sheriff of Franklin County North Carolina I have sworn an oath, as have the men and women who serve under me, to “Support and maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith”. When I swore to this oath it was not intended on my part to be merely ceremonious in nature. Those words have meaning. They represent the very basis of what makes our society different from so many others worldwide. We have established a form of Government which derives its powers from the governed, as is clearly stated in our Constitution. Our founding fathers recognized that each of us is born equally into this world with certain rights. These rights were put to paper in clear and concise wording for all to understand, even future generations.
